The Dining Room in SoBe is a dandy

A restaurant needn't be complicated. To start one, you need a kitchen area and a space with tables and chairs. Basic personnel requirements: chef and waiter. That's it. Of course, opening a really good restaurant requires a bit more: The chef and waiter need to be really good. Voilà! If this seems too simplistic, allow us to present the Dining Room. A dimly lit chandelier and some table candles illuminate this intimate Washington Avenue venue; a large mirror and family-style photos of the owners serve as décor. Twenty-four seats surrounding linen-draped tables and a petite cooking station occupy the rest of the tiny arena (with about two dozen more seats outdoors). The Dining Room Packs Charm and Taste Onto Little Plates and Into a Tiny Space

From Miami New Times: Appropriately nestled south of Fifth, in South Beach, The Dining Room is the two-month old, intimately-sized restaurant of OLA owner Brian Lieberman. Pulling double duty between Lieberman's kitchens is The Dining Room's executive chef, Horacio Rivadero. Sous chef, Christian Alvarez, is the man in charge on the two or three nights a week that Chef Rivadero is at The Sanctuary. Recently, they hosted us for a complimentary tasting of the menu's most exciting dishes. Reminiscent of a family-owned gem hidden in a Manhattan neighborhood, The Dining Room offers elegance that you can sense from the curb. Outside, a handful of candle-lit tables accommodate 24 people. The same number can sit inside, where a pleasant mix of Motown and jazz soothes the ears. The Dining Room is colored in a neutral palette including mocha walls and copper-tiled floors. A large mirror on the south wall makes the space seem larger than it is. Anchoring the interior -- and also serving as the restaurant's logo -- is a beautiful chandelier. South Beach bursts with energy, itsy-bitsy bikini wearers (both men and women, especially at the Delano), gorgeous stretches of sandy beach and top restaurants like the Dining Room, a chic new hip spot just around the corner from Collins Avenue, at 6th Street and Washington Avenue.

The Dining Room opens its doors onto the trendy street that during the day hosts thousands of SoBe locals and visitors as well as scores of partiers who line up outside the thumping clubs during the hot Miami nights.

Set in a block of art deco modernist buildings, this sister restaurant to the larger and popular Ola is a cozy and welcoming newcomer to a neighborhood of trendy eateries and flashy shops and clubs.

The beige and dark wood interior, with its linen-covered tables and subdued lighting from a glittering crystal chandelier and subtle sconces that are perched above the room, lends the dining experience a sultry and nourish feel that is the perfect setting for this historic district. Outdoor tables are placed on the sidewalk of Washington Avenue with sturdy rattan and wood chairs that are the right accent to the Art Deco neighborhood. Quietly opened in the space left vacant by the expanded La Locanda, which moved next door, The Dining Room is a so-called "modern bistro" that features small plates "made with locally sourced, sustainable ingredients" by chef Horacio Rivadero of OLA, who is pulling double duty in both kitchens. The diminutive Dining Room has both indoor and outdoor seating and free beer and wine until March.

Meet Your New Dining Room

Midtown isn't the only neighborhood getting the new blood these days — South Beach is still South Beach, after all. The latest to head over the bridge is new Washington Ave. spot, The Dining Room. Restaurateur Brian Lieberman, who is also the brainchild behind South Beach's Ola, switched it up with this space, transforming it more into a historic mansion motif. Think a ton of candles, massive mirrors and an elaborate chandelier to "tie the room together." Crazy-intimate dining from a Miami vet

They say bigger isn't always better, so obviously, they’ve never seen Honey, I Blew Up The Kid. For a resto from a guy who clearly appreciated the nuanced performances and subtle beauty of the first film, cozy up at The Dining Room.

Scaling things way down from his OLA with this 12-table, Euro-inspired supper club-ish joint, owner Brian Lieberman is rotating his best chefs into a small open kitchen surrounded by a high-ceiling’d dining room with a huge chandelier, candlelight galore, and walls lined with Lieberman family heirlooms, like a photo of Brian’s grandma hosting a night at The Fontainebleau and his dad’s old taxi license, but not a Crazy Taxi license, although you can get those in three minutes, and counting down! Classy eatin’ fires up with small plates like Cobia Ceviche w/ yuzu, citrus, red onions, ají limo, and grapefruit sorbet, and serrano-wrapped scallops in foie gras sherry sauce, plus starters like steamed clams w/ roasted grape tomatoes, garlic, ají limo, and royal trumpet mushrooms; and a salad w/ grilled goat cheese, pine nuts, and serrano ham, also what they called Pedro in the dugout while doing that Jobu stuff. The main event features fun like crispy braised pork w/ green mustard, white bean puree & pickled red radish; and hazelnut-herb-crusted rack of lamb w/ confit artichokes, eggplant aioli & beet mojo, basically the one thing Homer didn’t do to his helper monkey, before he had the computer tell people to pray for him.

Because he’s just that awesome, Brian’s blessing dinner guests with “within reason” free beer and wine into March, including Lote 44 Malbec from Argentina and Cali’s Mountain View Chardonnay, although everything looks like a mountain when you’re 1/100th the size of an Oreo, or Rick Moranis.
